In July 2024, director Shankar confirmed that the remake of his 2005 Tamil film Anniyan, also known as Aparichit in Hindi, has been put on hold. Chiyaan Vikram, who played the lead role in the original, shared his thoughts about the remake starring Ranveer Singh. When asked if he wanted to see the remake, Vikram jokingly told DNA, "I think you should ask this with Shankar. He should have made part two with me."
